BE KIND TO ANIMALS POSTERS BY MORGAN DENNIS
American, mid-20th century, circa 1941-42, lithograph on paper. "Animals Need Good Care", "Join in their defense" The American Humane Association (A.H.A.) and The American Red Star Animal Relief. Four WWII era posters by Morgan Dennis Joseph Francis Kernan; San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SF SPCA founded 1868). Animals illustrated include Harlequin Great Dane, Scottish Terrier, Bulldog, and cats.

  • Largest: 22 x 17 in. (55.9 x 43.2 cm.)
  • Condition:
  • -Boy holding water bowl with dog "Morgan Dennis" has no perfect edges with a tear high right side at the "S", top corners dog-eared, large central pin hole at bottom, tear top of left side and central horizontal fold crease.
    -Cat with Dog "Morgan Dennis" (1941) has multiple pin holes to all four corners, a bit of a rough left side edge, two tears at top edge and central horizontal fold crease.
    -Red over white over blue with dog "Morgan Dennis" (1941) has pinholes to upper corners only with pretty good edges all around yet not perfect with small tear in the margin to bottom of the right side and central horizontal fold crease.
    -Boy holding dog at the pound "J. F. Kernan" has pinholes to all four corners, several small tear losses to lower half of the right side, two tears along the top edge that stop short of going into the lettering and central horizontal fold crease.
    -Man with German Shephard "S/SGT Dan Osher" (1946) a pinhole to both upper corners and three pinholes bottom center, edges pretty good with a tear loss high on the left side at the word "BE", slight foxing at the lower right corner and central horizontal fold crease.
    -Dogs & cat on red background "Morgan Dennis" has pinholes to all corners with a loss in the upper right corner, tears with a loss along the top edge and some tears along the right edge and a central horizontal fold crease.

Shipping

Shipment is the full responsibility of the buyer. Selkirk will not be responsible for any loss, damage, theft, or otherwise responsible for any items left in Selkirk's possession fifteen (15) days after the sale. If arrangements for shipping have not been made and communicated within thirty (30) days, Selkirk reserves the right, at this time, to charge a storage fee of $10 per lot per day for furniture and large format items and $5 per lot per day for all other items, and within sixty (60) days, at its own discretion, sell any items left on the premises. Accumulated fees resulting from storage and insurance cost will be taken out of any proceeds.

Objects that contain materials of endangered or protected species may be subject to regulations disallowing export and import into other states or countries. It is the buyer's responsibility to be aware of all applicable laws and regulations and to obtain any required export or import licenses or certificates and any other required documentation.
