GOTHIC STYLE WROUGHT IRON AND PARCEL GILT CHANDELIER
American, early 20th century. Twelve light chandelier with six fluted columns joined by elaborate ironwork.

    Provenance:
  • Removed from a house in St. Louis, MO (9625 Ladue Road) designed by renowned architect George Hellmuth and built in 1926. Hellmuth was a native of St. Louis and son of architect George W. Hellmuth. He graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a bachelor's degree in architecture in 1929 and a master's degree in 1930. He began his career as an architect of the city of St. Louis in 1932, designing civic structures including police stations and bus shelters. He went into private practice in 1949, founding Hellmuth, Yamasaki and Leinweber. In 1954, that firm was succeeded by Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum which became the modern firm HOK, which was, in 2018, the largest U.S.-based architecture-engineering firm. Its president is Bill Hellmuth, a grandson.

  • Good solid condition and wired for electric. Note the height of the fixture is 51 inches PLUS any chain length added.

Shipping

Shipment is the full responsibility of the buyer. Selkirk will not be responsible for any loss, damage, theft, or otherwise responsible for any items left in Selkirk's possession fifteen (15) days after the sale. If arrangements for shipping have not been made and communicated within thirty (30) days, Selkirk reserves the right, at this time, to charge a storage fee of $10 per lot per day for furniture and large format items and $5 per lot per day for all other items, and within sixty (60) days, at its own discretion, sell any items left on the premises. Accumulated fees resulting from storage and insurance cost will be taken out of any proceeds.

Objects that contain materials of endangered or protected species may be subject to regulations disallowing export and import into other states or countries. It is the buyer's responsibility to be aware of all applicable laws and regulations and to obtain any required export or import licenses or certificates and any other required documentation.
