Description:

DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE AFTER JOHN TRUMBULL ENGRAVED BY ASHER B. DURAND, WITH DURAND KEY
American, 19th century. Engraved image of this historical moment in United States of America history. The engraving is framed with fitted matting around the image, as well as the separate Durand Key that shows the profile images of all those in attendance with facsimile signatures including four committee members that did not sign, but were present, and those were George Clinton, Thomas Willing, Robert R. Livingston, and John Dickinson. The Durand Key impression is 7" x 31.5, full card stock sheet 9.25" x 33.75".

    Dimensions:
  • D of I sheet: 22.8 x 31.8 in. (57.9 x 80.8 cm.), Frame: 37 1/2 x 37 1/4 in. (95.3 x 94.6 cm.)
  • Condition:
  • All good and in one frame beautifully presented. The sheet with image has some rough edges not showing as under the matting, foxing noticeable in the margins. Note on the Durand Key the large creased (dog earred) lower left corner that does not effect any of the signatures, and that crease is very stable now. Both pieces are mounted to a foam core backing in an unknown manner.
