THE AUDREY (BUSCH) FAUST WALLACE NEOCLASSICAL SILVER TEA AND COFFEE SERVICE
American/Italian, early 20th century, all 800 silver. Six (6) piece set: tea and coffee pot, two creamers, and one lidded sugar with matching platter. Featuring eagle form spots and paw feet. All monogramed AWF for Audrey (Busch) Faust Wallace (1903-1991) of the brewing magnate heirs, and all but one with UC mark possibly for Unger & Christl (American), with one marked "Made In Italy".
Audrey's father, Edward Anthony Faust (1868-1936) was the son of Busch family friend Tony Faust, 19th century St. Louis' most popular restaurateur and the namesake of an A-B beer brewed in the 1880s and briefly in the 1990s. Her mother, Anna (Busch) Faust (1875-1936).

  • The Wallace Estate: Lee Renfrew Wallace and her husband Mahlon Brookings Wallace III lived an extremely happy and luxurious life filled with world travels, safaris, collecting, and philanthropy. From backgrounds in race-horse breeding and championship cattle ranching, the socialite couple paid homage to the St. Louis area community in a variety of ways.

    Mr. Wallace served as Director of Commerce Bank, President of the St. Louis Zoo Friends Board, and was charitable to numerous organizations he believed in. Behind every great man is a better woman, and his wife Lee was renowned for being the glue of the family while she warmly served as Director of Development for local educational institutions and made an impact with her lasting spirit. The couple's art collection ranges in style and period and spans a broad price-point.

Shipping

Shipment is the full responsibility of the buyer. Selkirk will not be responsible for any loss, damage, theft, or otherwise responsible for any items left in Selkirk's possession fifteen (15) days after the sale. If arrangements for shipping have not been made and communicated within thirty (30) days, Selkirk reserves the right, at this time, to charge a storage fee of $10 per lot per day for furniture and large format items and $5 per lot per day for all other items, and within sixty (60) days, at its own discretion, sell any items left on the premises. Accumulated fees resulting from storage and insurance cost will be taken out of any proceeds.

Objects that contain materials of endangered or protected species may be subject to regulations disallowing export and import into other states or countries. It is the buyer's responsibility to be aware of all applicable laws and regulations and to obtain any required export or import licenses or certificates and any other required documentation.
