Diverse artworks, objets d'art, and personal memorabilia from a German collection will be sold in St. Louis, MO, on October 10 by Selkirk Auctioneers & Appraisers in a sale titled GIFTED: Heirlooms from the Haefele Family of Stuttgart, Germany”. Patriarch Georg Gottlieb Haefele, started a wool-spinning business that powered the family to prosperity in the early 20th century. The live sale, which is Selkirk's annual autumn gallery auction, is the culmination of an online bidding period that began September 28.

Among the lots on offer will be early Montblanc pen sets, uncirculated gold coins, German silver, jewelry and gifts the family received from friends and associates in the business and social worlds. Also crossing the block are personal items such as a 1933 Marklin train model of The Flying Hamburger was part of a full-scale model originally displayed in Stuttgart Hauptbanhof, the central train station terminal, a rare Angelus enameled 8-day globe-shaped desk clock with barometer, hygrometer, thermometer and intaglio zodiac signs.

While most if the lots in the sale are in the category of small-scale personal keepsakes, there will also be fine oil paintings, decorative art, furniture and rugs from the families south German manor range from the late 19th through mid-20th centuries.
