Bidding with Selkirk
In the days leading up to auction day, a catalogue of all items to be offered will be published on our website for browsing. Selkirk invites bidders to visit our gallery in advance of the auction to preview items first-hand.
Our specialists are readily available to provide condition reports and answer questions regarding any item offered at auction. These detailed evaluations are provided at request. Please do not assume the absence of a condition report is indication an object is flawless.
On auction day, please join us at our Downtown St. Louis gallery located at 555 Washington Ave. Whether in-person or remote, Selkirk offers a number of ways to facilitate your bidding preference.
- Absentee Bidding: Let us know what your desired maximum bid interest is on a particular lot or lots and we will ensure these bids are executed on your behalf.
- Phone Bidding: A member of our team will call you during the auction allowing you to bid live with us over the phone.
- Online Bidding: Engage with us from your computer or mobile device by bidding online through our website or one of our partner bidding platforms. You will have the ability to leave bids remotely or actively participate by watching the auction through a live stream. Please note that all online bidding, whether through the Selkirk website or a third-party, is subject to a higher buyer's premium.
All bidders must register to bid in advance of the auction. By registering to bid with us, you are agreeing to our Terms & Conditions of Sale. If bidding in person you must have a registered paddle for your bids to be accepted. New bidders will be required to provide photo identification and a credit card on file. If you choose to leave an absentee or phone bid, please place these requests before 5pm central the evening prior to auction day. You can download our Absentee Bidding Form and submit it to [email protected]. All bidders are subject to approval. Online bidders not bidding with us directly may register and bid through an alternative third-party bidding platform, Invaluable or Liveauctioneers.
All items purchased at auction are subject to a buyer’s premium in addition to the hammer price. Selkirk charges a 25% Buyer’s Premium for all in-person, absentee and phone bids up to and including $1 million, 20% Buyer’s Premium in excess of $1.0 million, and 15% Buyer’s Premium in excess $5.0 million. Buyers bidding online are subject to an additional 5% buyer's premium.
