Two ink works signed Francis Newton (F.N.) Souza (Indian-American, 1924-2002):
An abstract, crosshatched portrait of a man, dated 1976, mounted to stock: 14 x 12 in. (35.6 x 30.5 cm.), & a cubist bust of a smiling man, dated 1994: 11 x 8 1/2 in. (27.9 x 21.6 cm.);

Two watercolor works signed Maqbool Fida (M.F.) Husain (Indian, 1915-2011):
A young beauty, a child, the dove of peace, and two bulls rendered in cubist style, accompanied by COA: 30.7 x 22 1/2 in. (78 x 57.2 cm.); & Vishnu atop a recumbent bull, two gopis (milkmaids) to the left, accompanied by COA: 30.7 x 22 1/2 in. (78 x 57.2 cm.);

A work signed Ram Kumar (Indian, 1924-2018) and dated 1987 lower right: black and blue abstraction, matted: 13 3/4 x 17 3/4 in. (34.9 x 45.1 cm.);

A work signed K.H. Ara (Indian, 1914-1985): still life of a floral vase, grapes, and fruits before an open window, framed: 15 3/4 x 18 3/4 in. (40 x 47.6 cm.);

A mixed media work signed Prabhakar Barwe (Indian, 1936-1995): surreal scene with gourds: 13 1/2 x 21 in. (34.3 x 53.3 cm.); &

A mixed media work signed Bhupen Khakhar (Indian, 1934-2003): two amorous figures encircled by flowering vines and water: 14 1/4 x 10 3/4 in. (36.2 x 27.3 cm.)

  • Provenance: Purported to have been purchased by the owner's father from a Delhi, India collection.
  • Condition:

Returns shall not be accepted on the basis of condition.

Shipping

Shipment is the full responsibility of the buyer. Selkirk will not be responsible for any loss, damage, theft, or otherwise responsible for any items left in Selkirk's possession fifteen (15) days after the sale. If arrangements for shipping have not been made and communicated within thirty (30) days, Selkirk reserves the right, at this time, to charge a storage fee of $10 per lot per day for furniture and large format items and $5 per lot per day for all other items, and within sixty (60) days, at its own discretion, sell any items left on the premises. Accumulated fees resulting from storage and insurance cost will be taken out of any proceeds.

Objects that contain materials of endangered or protected species may be subject to regulations disallowing export and import into other states or countries. It is the buyer's responsibility to be aware of all applicable laws and regulations and to obtain any required export or import licenses or certificates and any other required documentation.
