Kenneth Page (January 20, 1954 – September 30, 2024) was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. An alumnus of Fontbonne College, Ken majored in theatre and then moved to New York City to begin a 40+ year career on the stage. In the 1970s, Ken debuted on Broadway as Nicely-Nicely Johnson in a revival of "Guys and Dolls" and as a replacement for the Lion in "The Wiz." He went on to famously create the part of Ken in the original Broadway production of Ain't Misbehavin' alongside André De Shields, as well as the role of Old Deuteronomy in the original Broadway and filmed stage adaptation of Cats. Many know his voice as that of Mr. Oogie Boogie in the Disney/Tim Burton animated film The Nightmare Before Christmas. Ken returned to St. Louis in 2010 where he continued to grace the stage in more than 45 shows with the Muny, becoming known as the "Voice of the Muny". Ken was a spoken advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and Black Lives Matter; and he is the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Manhattan Association of Cabaret Artists (MAC), Project One Voice/Black Theatre and the St. Louis Arts Foundation.
