Description:

COIN-OP ORCHESTRION PLAYER PIANO
Oak cased Berry-Wood Auto Orchestra upright grand piano with multiple instruments. Holds a 24-board xylophone, drum, snare drum, cymbal, wood block, tambourine, triangle. Bears label "Installed by W. J. Dyer & Bro. Saint Paul MINN. Fotoplayers & Automatic Insts." Pair of Arts & Crafts-stained glass windows on top. 72" height, 63" width, 30" depth

  • Condition: The orchestrion is a bit rough. It appears that it has been sitting idle for quite sometime. The motor comes on when you plug in the machine so the motor works. The four light fixtures also work, two exterior and two behind the stained glass windows. The coin-op does not seem to work when you drop in a coin, but the coin shaft is there to the interior. . . .
As far as playing music, playing with interior switches we can get it to play music! So the roll will turn and the vacuum system must work as it plays music, although very lightly, so the installed music roll will turn and play, and we do have two rolls, one installed now, and another roll in its original Capitol box listing 10 songs, with 0-786 listed on the label. When the Orchestrion is playing, the piano keys hit lightly, the red wood block in the center gets struck, the left snare drum gets hit, the metal triangle gets struck, and the 24 wooden 'flutes' mounted high in the backside DO make music. Leaving instruments that have not played as, the xylophone, the tambourine, the cymbal and that drum to the right. Please feel free to call and I'll do my best to help with additional inquiries.
It is possible that the roll that plays on the orchestrion does not play the instruments that are not playing. One of the 24 wooden flutes is missing - the 4th smallest flute. Also, we have played the current roll to the end, and the roll stops on its own, but it will not rewind although it trys as the two gears don't come together for the rewind.
