Otto Pilny (Swiss, 1886-1936) studied in Prague and lived in Vienna and Zurich. He traveled to Egypt several times becoming a court painter to the Viceroy of Egypt and working on commission for Egyptian King Abbas II. Pilny was especially intrigued by Bedouin culture in which he found a source of great inspiration becoming one of the best-known Orientalist artists of his time.

  • Condition: Good restored condtioned. Canvas is lined. Under UV light, indications of scattered retouch in sky and inpaint to repaired 3.5 inch vertical tear above rightmost figure.
