Signed and dated 2013 on verso with other inscriptions relating 'The Arts of Mankind' by Andre Malraux. Bearded male figure with curled hair, armor-like garb, in profile, large eyes, dots in a straight horizontal line from the center of the eye to the edge of the page, unframed.

Together with a woodblock of a of a veiled man with a devilish grin, eyes looking to the side, unframed. Signed lower right and dated '69 (original work dated '66).

Harold "Hal" Ernst Poth was born in St. Louis in 1924. Poth studied industrial design at Washington University School of Fine Arts and worked professionally as a commercial artist for St. Louis firms, H. George Bloch and Mel Roman Advertising. Alongside his wife, Viola (Vi) Koenig Poth, he began his own company, Visual Communications, in the 1960s. Throughout his life, Hal pursued creativity, working with a variety of media including wood, plaster, metal, paper and plastic. His work has been exhibited regionally at Regional Arts Commission, Arkansas Art Museum, and Meramec Art Gallery. He passed away Feb. 24, 2017.

Shipping

Shipment is the full responsibility of the buyer. Selkirk will not be responsible for any loss, damage, theft, or otherwise responsible for any items left in Selkirk's possession fifteen (15) days after the sale. If arrangements for shipping have not been made and communicated within thirty (30) days, Selkirk reserves the right, at this time, to charge a storage fee of $10 per lot per day for furniture and large format items and $5 per lot per day for all other items, and within sixty (60) days, at its own discretion, sell any items left on the premises. Accumulated fees resulting from storage and insurance cost will be taken out of any proceeds.

Objects that contain materials of endangered or protected species may be subject to regulations disallowing export and import into other states or countries. It is the buyer's responsibility to be aware of all applicable laws and regulations and to obtain any required export or import licenses or certificates and any other required documentation.
