Julie Malone
American (St. Louis), b 1971
Snow on Ice
Oil and pastel on panel
Signed and dated '11 lower right. Abstract composition with multi-colored squares, unframed.

Julie Malone was born in Kansas City in 1971. She earned a BFA in Studio Art/Painting from Central Missouri State University in 1995 and relocated to St. Louis in 1996. She began her career as a digital designer in the decorative laminate industry, but in 1999—following the birth of her first child—shifted her focus entirely to painting. Leaving the corporate world allowed her to pursue her lifelong passion, and she has been painting professionally ever since.

Initially trained in the figurative tradition, Julie's work has evolved into abstraction. Her oil paintings are reactionary expressions of humanity and the abundant beauty of the natural world. She explores the reflective nature of light and our deep relationship to color, using them as tools to communicate emotion and form.

Over the past 25 years, Julie has sold thousands of paintings across the United States and abroad. In 2016, she was honored with a retrospective exhibition at the Sheldon Art Galleries in St. Louis' Grand Center. Her work is represented by Houska Gallery in St. Louis and is included in numerous public, corporate, and private collections nationwide.
