Description:

TWO GADGET CANES
Late 19th/early 20th century, a camera tripod cane (loss of wood covering) together with a cane having screw top with opening, likely a flask cane at one point, but no insert (no glass) to the shaft. Longest 36" length

    Condition:
  • The straight cane was likely a flask and it is missing any insert that it may have had as the wooden knob has a threaded metal rim that screws into the threaded metal collar over the open shaft, but note that the threaded metal collar is loose and needs to be attached to the top of the shaft. It has an ink stained finish allover that you will clearly see in the images on the website. And the cane is just a bit 'warped' similar in fashion to how a cue stick may not roll due to not being straight, but just a bit 'warped'.
Regarding the other metamorphic cane, as you can see it is a tripod and the bottom tip and the top crocked hand grip thread off and allow the cane to transform into a tripod as seen in the images. It looks as though it may have originally had a faux wooden finish to the white metal shaft as there are signs of that finish, but now it has a khaki colored finish, with some of the white metal showing and some of the original faux finish showing.
